Friday Funnies

Just wanted to pop in and say "hello," and leave you with a few Friday Funnies for this week:

Micah noticed that someone passed us who had a "fat tummy" as he called it.  "Mommy, he can hibernate!" he shouted.

Jaden pointed to my elliptical machine in the garage. "Why don't you use that, mommy?"
Me: "Well, I go to the gym now."  Jaden: "Well, you could still use it on the days you don't go to the gym!"

Micah went up to Martin and said, "Dad, just a reminder that Jaden cannot play the Wii today because he threw the remote yesterday."

And if you've ever played with Photobooth on a Mac, you know how hilarious it can be.  This is Jaden and I messing around on Photobooth today:

Friday Funnies

It has been so long since I've done a "Friday Funnies" post, but I've been saving up some good ones to share!

I said to the boys, "After breakfast you need to go straight to the couch and get dressed."  Micah replied, "Mom, the couch isn't straight.  If you want me to go to the couch then I need to go straight and then turn left."

Jaden and I were talking about how he came into our bed and fell asleep in the middle of the night. When I asked him why, his eyes got really big and he whispered, "Because I was infinity and one scared!"

We were at Target in the food section when we passed the donuts. Jaden shouted excitedly, "Mom!  You should buy donuts so we can play church!!"

Martin was talking to the boys about their memory verse, Galatians 5:22.  He asked them what "Goodness" means.  Jaden replied, "It means, like, 'Oh my gosh!'"

Jaden told me he had a "girl dream" last night. I wasn't sure what that meant, so I said, "What girls were in  your dream?"  He replied, "Strawberry Shortcake, and Dora and Boots."  "And what were you all doing?" I asked.  He replied, "We were finding deer and shooting them to eat them!!"

Micah was helping me do laundry and I asked him to put Martin's boxers in the washing machine.  Micah asked, "Why does daddy wear underwear for boxing?  Wrestlers wear pants."

When the boys want to play a game against each other, they are often overheard asking, "Can I verse you?"  (play versus you)

Jaden walked in the bathroom as I was getting undressed to hop in the shower. He took one look at me and exclaimed, "What are those big things?"

And the winner of the week goes to Jaden for this conversation:

We were driving and Jaden asked, "Where does milk come from again, mom?"  I replied, "Cows, Jaden."  He quickly responded, "and boobs too, right?"

Turning 35 & Friday Funnies

On Tuesday, it happened.  Dun Dun DUN....

I turned 35.

I guess this was a big one, because everyone kept asking what I was doing to celebrate it.  All I really wanted, though, was to be with my family and friends - nothing special.  I was SO incredibly blessed, though.  I was able to go out to eat a few times with different friends, two friends showed up at my house and surprised me with 4 handmade leis, Martin and I had a date night, my sister threw me a little surprise party and took me on a shopping spree, and we are going to Morro Bay next week with friends! I could not ask for anything more - I feel so grateful and happy.

Date Night
Every birthday I tend to reflect a little bit, and this birthday was no different.  I thought about the "highs and lows" of the past year:

Highs of 34:
Going to Yosemite with our family and friends
Getting together every Friday with my "Friday Girls" and our kids
Experiencing great growth in my photography business
Going to the snow twice
Micah having a fun first year in T-Ball

Lows of 34:
The many trials of Micah's first year in kindergarten
Micah having pneumonia for about a month
Me getting sick for 2 months straight
Experiencing profound loss in many friends' lives

Through all of the events of the past year I know that I have grown in my faith and in all of my relationships.  I feel like I'm finally becoming more comfortable with who I am, not needing to impress anyone, and focusing on what's truly important in life.  There are a few more gray hairs on my head, new smile lines, an extra poundage...but I am blessed.

My new birthday dress!
(You can read more of my thoughts on getting older in my post titled, "Signs You're Approaching Your Mid-30's")

Because today is Friday, I thought I'd end with a few Friday Funnies I kept track of this week:

I told Jaden I was going to get my hair dyed. He said, "You are going to get your hair painted?! Are they going to paint it green??"

Micah was asking me questions about planets and I didn't know the answers to some of them. He said, "Maybe you should check out Science.com, mom!"

I bought some generic cereal that came in a bag (instead of a box), and Micah said, "Hey! This is like cat food cereal!"  Now every time they eat it, they say, "We want cat cereal!"

Jaden was about to put his pajamas on and said, "How about I put my pajamas on backwards tonight? That means my Pull-Up will go on my head, my shorts on my belly, and my shirt on my legs!!!"  :)

Friday Funnies

Earlier in the day, Micah asked me what "blind" meant. Jaden overheard us, and later in the day he was throwing a huge tantrum. He was mad at Martin and I and shouted through tears, "You're going to be blind and not be able to see!" (It was hard not to laugh) :)

Jaden was coloring a picture of Jesus and said, "Jesus has a mustache just like Obi Won Kanobi!"

Micah wanted to watch cartoons after dinner and said, "Daddy, you let us watch Dora, and we'll pay you money." Love those early bargaining skills.

I excitedly asked the boys, "Do you guys want to go see Cars 2?!!"  Micah replied, "No, I want to wait until it's on Netflix."

I told the boys that they had to clean up a mess on the floor.  Micah said, "It's Jaden's mess! I'm not his maid!"  I told him he had to help anyway, and he retorted, "Nuh-uh! The President said there are no more maids!"

Micah came in from playing in the (little) pool we have outside and said, "I baptized myself!"

Friday Funnies

It's been awhile since I've done a Friday Funnies post, so I've been saving them up.  Put on your seat belts...this will be a funny ride :)

________________________

I asked  Jaden where he wanted to eat on his birthday.  "At the table," he said.  Micah replied, "No, Jaden! Where at a restaurant?"  Jaden said, "In N Out!  And they will be so happy!  They will put party hats on!"

Jaden saw my swimsuit and asked, "Is that your mermaid thing?"

When I picked Jaden up from preschool, I asked him what he had for snack that day.  "Alcohol!" he said.  Later that week, Martin's family was over for lunch and Martin asked what everyone would like to drink. Jaden shocked the whole family when he said, "Alcohol!"

For some reason Jaden was talking about Strawberry Shortcake and he said, "There are crazy girls on there.  That's why I don't watch that cartoon."  He has never seen that cartoon, so I asked where he heard that and he told me one of his friends from school said that :)

We were at a restaurant and Micah said, "Santa Clause is real!"  Jaden shot back, "FAT!"

Jaden keeps telling us that he speaks Spanish.  He adds "L" to every word and says things like, "I wlant leggs for bleakflast.  I spoke Spanish, mommy!"

We were in a Mexican restaurant where they had rap music on (I know, weird).  The first part of the song was just music and Micah asked, "Is this classical music?  Because they aren't singing any words."

In the car we were listening to a rap album of someone who visited our church.  I asked Micah, "Do you like rap music, Micah?"  He said, "I like all music, mom."  Well then!

Micah has been copying his friend Beau's laugh from school.  It gets kindof annoying and I told him, "I like your laugh, Micah.  Just laugh like you."  He replied, "Well, I like all laughs, mommy."

I was wearing a tank top and Jaden sat on my lap and touched the top of my top.  He said, "What is this?  A shirt?" I said yes, and he said, "You need to cover this up mommy.  You need to put another shirt on."   I said, "You don't want people to see that?" (the top of my chest).  He said, "No! Go put another shirt on!" (Interesting what a 4 year old can teach the world about modesty - love it)

We drove by a cop holding a speed gun, and Micah said, "Why does he have that gun?  If people go too fast, he shoots them?"

Friday Funnies

I'm warning you, most of the humor in my house these days has to do with the potty or farting.  Boys!
_________________________
Jaden loves to put new words to songs we listen to.  He heard the song on the radio by Chris Tomlin that says,
"Where You go, I'll go
Where You stay, I'll stay
Where You move, I'll move
I will follow You"

At breakfast today he sang,
"Where you pee, I'll pee,
Where you poop, I'll poop,
Where you fart, I'll fart,
I will pee on you"

________________________
Jaden is just obsessed with talking about pee, poop and farts.  He told Micah that he had a dream about farting, and Micah replied, "That sounds like a private parts dream, Jaden."  (We frequently tell them to stop talking about private parts).
________________________
I was at Costco with Jaden and we were eating in the food court.  He saw an older man eating by himself and said, "Mommy, look! That man is lonely!"
_________________________
Micah finished going to the bathroom and said, "These are the only things you can touch with your germs after going to the bathroom: the toilet flusher, your underwear, your pants, the soap, and the faucet. That's it."  I said, "Wow, Micah!  How did you know that?  Did Ms. S teach you that?"  He replied, "No, Mommy! I just knew that!"
_________________________
Micah was taking a shower and I cautioned him to not get soap in his eyes or it would burn.  He asked, "Why?  Is it made out of heat?"
_________________________

I told Jaden we were having pizza for dinner and he said, "YES!  Is it macaroni (pepperoni) or cheese?"
_________________________
Micah told us numerous times that he did not want to go to school on St. Patrick's Day.  Finally I asked him, "Are you afraid that a leprechaun is going to be there?"  Through tears he said, "Yes!  And he's going to pinch me!"  We explained that leprechauns are not real and he didn't need to be afraid; plus, he'd be wearing green anyway.

After I picked him up, he said, "I told all the kids that leprechauns are not real, and that the green footprints in the room were just paint!"  :)

Friday Funnies

I was helping Micah get his pajamas on when he asked, "What is that smell?"  Martin and I asked, "What smell?" and he said, "I don't know.  Mommy, come closer."  He pulled me close to him and leaned in to my armpit.  "Lift your arm up," he said.  "Now move closer."  "THAT smell!" he exclaimed.  "That stinks!"

Micah:"I have a lot of poop in my body today, mommy."

Micah was looking at a poster of all of the US coins.  He said, "Who are these guys?"  I explained that they were presidents.  He looked at the dollar coin and asked, "Who is that lady?  Why does she have a baby on her back?"  Then he looked at the quarter and saw a picture of a horse on the back - "Is that a bad guy riding that horse?"  Earlier in the day he explained to me that there are good horses and bad horses, and the bad horses carry the bad guys around who carry guns.  Apparently this was one of those bad horses.

Micah overheard a boy in his classroom say that he got hit in the private area during lunchtime.  When I picked him up, Micah said, "Beau got hit in the peanuts twice today!"

Jaden has been asking me a lot of questions about heaven lately.  On the way to school, he asked what will happen to our clothes when we go to heaven, and I explained that we will get new clothes.  He's still a little confused about what  happens to our bodies, and he asked, "So when we get to heaven, God glues our bodies back together?"  My sweet boy :)

(Yes, I know many of my Friday Funnies have to do with farts and poop. Welcome to the world of boys!)

Friday Funnies

This week's Friday Funnies:

Micah:  "Watching Caillou makes my butt hurt!"
_____________________________________

We have a CD with a song called "Blessed are the Pure in Heart."  I overheard Micah singing, "Blessed are the Human Farts!"
_____________________________________

I got a notice from Micah's school that someone in his class had pink eye.  When he told me his friend Tyler was absent, I asked, "Oh, did he have pink eye?"  Micah looked at me confused and replied, "No, he has different eyes."

Jaden climbed in bed one night with us (around 2am) and quickly fell asleep between us.  After he was sound asleep, we heard a huge fart, and Martin and I both sat up and looked at each other (it really was that loud).  We looked and Jaden, and he had a huge smile on his face (in his sleep) and he whispered, "I did that!" and giggled for about five minutes.  So funny!

Friday Funnies

My friend Heather is on a media fast right now, but she developed the Friday Funnies and I wanted to share our latest funnies with you...

In the midst of the sick weeks we have had, my children never fail to disappoint...

Micah, crying because he had to go to another doctor's appointment, said through tears, "I'm going to put a banana on the floor so the doctor can slip on it and fall!"

Upon telling both boys that they had (yet another) doctor's appointment today, they conspired in their room and said, "We are going to put gum on the floor so the doctor will walk and step on it and not be able to move!  We are going to use serious sticky power!"

Jaden woke up at 3am last night and was wide awake for over an hour. During that time he talked a mile a minute, telling me all about how Darth Vader is Luke Skywalker's father.  Nevermind he has never seen Star Wars; my dad told him all about it and he was fascinated.

As I was putting Jaden to bed and he was nodding off to sleep, I layed next to him and he whispered in my ear, "Mommy, when you and daddy were praying today, I had my eyes WIDE OPEN!"

Micah missed 3 days of school this week, and I asked if he wanted to go with me to pick up his homework.  He said, "No, I don't want to see my friends from school when I'm absent.  I only want to see them when I go BACK to school!"

The boys have been together so much lately, there have been days where they just get sick of each other.  Micah was mad at Jaden and said, "Your head looks like an oval!"

One of Micah's favorite phrases is "You smacked the cheese off!"  We didn't know what this meant until recently when I finally asked him, and he said, "It means you farted!"  I said, "OH! You mean 'You cut the cheese?'"  He still prefers "You smacked the cheese off!"  :)

And lastly, we were driving and passed a homeless man with dreadlocks wearing a girls' jacket.  Micah blurted out, "That guy is a rock star!"

Friday Funnies

It's been awhile since I posted a Friday Funnies post, so I have been saving up some funny stuff for you!  Well, at least I think it's funny :)

-Micah came to me whining one day and said, "Mommy, I want a kid friend and Jaden won't play with me!"

-We were talking about the Spanish language, and I asked Micah "What's daddy's name in Spanish?"  He replied, "Barbie!!"

-Micah saw a small figurine of the Statue of Liberty and said, "Hey! There's the US guy!"

-Jaden loves playing "Pretend Preschool" every single day.  He refers to me by a different name every day - I'm usually Mrs. McCamant (his current teacher), but this week he kept referring to me as "Ethan's Mom."   Today he told me his name was "Brooke" and had me call him Brooke until he went to bed.

-We have caught our boys calling each other "stubo" and figured out that they are trying to call each other "stupid."  We have to discipline them the same way as though they were calling each other "stupid," but it is funny to raise our voices and say, "Stop calling him stubo!!"

-I asked Micah what he wants to be when he grows up, and he said, "A soccer player, and a blast off man!" (That means an astronaut).

-This week's car conversation trumps any other car conversation that we have ever had.  A moth was trapped in the car, and Micah asked how moths are born.  I told him that they come from eggs that their mommies lay (that's true, right?).  He then wanted to know how the eggs come OUT of the mommies.  "Ummmmm......Well, the mommy moths have a little opening that the eggs come out of."  Micah said, "the mommies have a hole that the egg comes out of, like we have a hole that poop comes out of?"  I replied, "Um, kindof!"  He said, "Well, how did I come out of you?"  I replied, "Well, um, mommies have a hole too that babies come out of!"  End of story.  Changed the subject.  That was weird.  I hope I haven't scarred my child forever!

-And lastly, at dinner last night, Jaden was FULL of energy and told us a story that was 30 minutes long, talking non-stop without barely a breath in between.  He was so animated, and although we couldn't understand everything he was saying, he was so cute and we could not stop laughing.  I love especially the clip between 2:00-4:00.   He is a funny boy!

Friday Funnies

After my big fall on the back porch, while I was passing out in misery, I heard Micah say, "I have to go inside and get my doctor kit!"  Martin wouldn't let him by me, and Micah was very upset about it.  After it was all over, Micah said, "Oh no! I forgot to call 911!"

This was a fun conversation we overheard:
Micah said, "Jaden, let's pretend we love each other and then get married."  Followed by, "I'll be the girl."  :)

I have also heard some funny games the boys have been playing lately:
Jaden:  "We're playing Vikings and Jesus, and I'm Jesus and I'm splatting him in the face!  Ha Ha!"

On another day, Micah said, "We're playing 'Jesus is more powerful than  you!'" and they were throwing clothes at each other.  Then I heard Jaden say, "I'll be Jesus, you be God!"  :)

This did not happen at my house, but I went to a friend's house and her 3 year old came up to me and said, "You have a BIG fat baby in your tummy!"  I wasn't sure whether to be mortified or laugh, so I laughed, and she explained that last night she (the mom) had told her son about how he used to be in her belly, and it's all he's been talking about ever since.  I'll take that ;)

Yesterday I was driving in a store parking lot when a big SUV passed me. On it were written the words (on the back window in large cursive text): "Miss Moody Girl."  I thought to myself, "Hmmm, last time I checked, that was not a compliment!"  I just had to laugh (and share it with you all here on Friday Funnies).

And saving the best for last, this morning I turned on the news, and it was a press conference with the President.  Jaden said, "Mommy, that's Jesus!"  Then he asked, "Is that heaven?"  I was laughing so hard, explaining to him that "NO, that's not Jesus, and that is the white house."  :)

Friday Funnies

I'm a little late in posting this, but have been keeping track of my kids funny/cute/interesting conversations this week :)  Here are today's Friday Funnies, hosted by Heather at Triple Blessing:

Jaden has never liked syrup on his pancakes before this week.  Micah said, "Jaden, did you know that syrup has sugar in it?  You should try some!"  Jaden then says, "Sugar?!  Daddy, I want syrup on my pancakes!"  Martin proceeded to put the syrup on his pancakes, and Jaden said, "YUMMY!! Daddy, did you know that syrup has sugar in it?!"

Micah is in a phase where he is asking a lot of questions about God, but isn't quite sure what to think yet.  We were babysitting two girls, ages 6 and 7, and the kids all started talking about church.  The 6 year old said, "I go to church too! I'm a Christian!" and Micah replied, "Oh, I'm not a Christian.  I just go to church."

Along those same lines, sometimes Micah says, "I don't like Jesus."  Rather than shame him for saying that, we talk to him about why he feels that way (we think it is because he doesn't understand yet but he has seen pictures of Jesus dying on the cross).  But yesterday he followed up that statement with, "Even if you're mean to Jesus, he still gives you stuff."  I said, "Oh yeah, like what?"  Micah replied, "Like toys and a new sister!"  I said, "Well, you better be nice to him just in case, because you're not getting a sister any other way!"

The boys have also been asking a lot of questions about God and Satan.  After describing who Satan is, Micah said, "I'm going to shoot him with my fighter jet.  And I could also fart on him."

Jaden loves playing "preschool" and filled up his little backpack with share toys.  He pulled out about 8 toys and told me about each one.  He got to a toy dinosaur and said, "Here is a dinosaur.  He's stinked."  I said, "Extinct?" and he said, "Yes, he stinked."  Then he pulled out a toy tiger and said, "Here is a tiger.  He's stinked too.  He eats people, right?"  I said, "No, honey, he doesn't eat people, and he's not extinct.  He's a nice tiger."  He pulled out a dragon's tail and said, "Here is the dragon's tail.  He's missing this."  Then he pulled out a plastic potato and said, "And here is a potato for dinner!"  I told him I had to go do something and to have "recess."  He said, "It's not recess, mommy! It's called play time!"  Well, then!

I was teaching the boys about dialing 9-1-1, and Micah asked, "What number do we dial to call the army?"  I told him I wasn't sure, and he said, "I think it's 9-3-0."

One day while driving, the boys were discussing where superheroes live.  Jaden asked if Ironman and Spiderman live in our city.  Micah replied, "No, Jaden, they don't live here.  They're just pretend.  The army lives where we live and THEY are our heroes."  :)

When we were at Chuck E Cheese this week, Micah asked me about this one game where a huge gorilla is holding metal bars, and you squeeze the bars to shock the gorilla.  After coming home, Micah said, "That's what we do to Satan!  We shock him when we do good stuff!"

Friday Funnies

It's time again for Friday Funnies, sponsored by Heather at Triple Blessing!

At dinner one night this week, we were talking about fish when Micah asked "Where do goldfish come from, mommy?" I didn't really want to explain it so I just said that they "come from bigger fish." :) He replied, "and then they turn into [goldfish] crackers?"

We drove by an outdoor venue where a band was playing music. Micah said, "Oh no! Someone left their music on in their car and now their car battery is going to die!"

Jaden has a habit of singing a lot.  I overheard Micah say to him, "Jaden, stop singing!! That hurts my ears!"

We were at McDonalds and could not find Jaden in the play structure.  Micah ripped off his shoes and ran past me, saying, "Mommy, I have to go rescue Jaden!"

At that same play structure, Jaden looked out one of the windows at us sitting below him, and proceeded to have an entire conversation with us about something happening in there, but we could not hear one word of what he said.  It was so funny watching his facial expressions and him pointing around, thinking we could hear him, but nope....

In the car, I asked Micah, "What is your middle name, Micah?" He replied, "Nick."  I have no idea why he thinks that is his middle name, but I reminded him that it is actually Nathaniel. :)

We frequently go park at a spot overlooking the beach.  Martin brought his binoculars and let Jaden look through them.  He shouted, "I just saw a shark, mommy!  I just saw a whale!  I just saw a dolphin!  Oops - you missed it."  Then he looked around the park behind us and said, "OH!  I just saw a rumor weed!!"  Yes, Jaden loves that Veggietales episode!

Friday Funnies: Uncut

Disclaimer: After posting this blog, I remembered that I have a few male readers, and I apologize in advance for this posting.  Turn back now; you don't want to move forward.  :)  Just warning you.
___________________________________________

Today I am participating in Friday Funnies, started by my friend Heather over at Triple Blessing.

At dinner on Monday night, we were leisurely eating our dinner when Jaden blurted out, "You don't have a penis, right, mommy?"  and Micah followed by, "Why don't you have balls?"  Yes, just another normal dinner conversation at our home.  This conversation has continued all week, with Jaden continually asking me to "pull down your pants so I can see what's down there."  Don't worry; I haven't obliged.  When we were camping, Micah came and layed next to me early one morning, put his hands on both my boobs and said, "what are these, mommy?"  When I tried to explain to him, he started to shake them and jiggle them and laugh hysterically until I yanked his hands off of me.  Ah, life with 3 and 5 year old boys.

On another note, Martin walked in the door from conducting a funeral, and Jaden looked and him and said, "Why did you get buried?"

I gave Micah some Bare Fruit Apple Chips (here is their logo), and he looked at the bag and asked, "Are these made out of bears, mommy?"

This isn't something funny that anyone SAID, but I just had to include our cat in the Friday Funnies, because he has a sense of humor too.  The other night I went to get some silverware for dinner and had a hard time opening the drawer.  I peeked inside and saw this:

Then this:

We had a hard time getting him out and Micah said, "I think we need to call the fire department, mommy!"

But eventually, we got him out.

Silly kitty!  Can't wait to read your Friday Funnies!
